Rain Damage in Tenkasi

Tenkasi district has been severely affected by continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days. According to reports, more than 20 houses have suffered structural damage, forcing several families to seek temporary shelter. Additionally, around 15 hectares of agricultural land have been affected, causing major losses to local farmers who depend on seasonal crops for their livelihood.

In response to the situation, the district administration has set up multiple relief camps to accommodate affected residents. These camps are providing essential services such as food, drinking water, medical support, and emergency supplies. Officials are continuously monitoring vulnerable areas to ensure people’s safety.

The authorities are also preparing for possible controlled water releases from major dams, especially the Adavinainar Dam, which is currently nearing its full capacity due to the heavy inflow of rainwater. Safety teams have been deployed near riverbanks and low-lying regions to prevent flooding and to guide residents in case of emergency evacuations.

The administration has requested the public to remain cautious, avoid traveling through flooded areas, and follow the guidance of local authorities. Continuous monitoring and relief efforts are underway to manage the impact of the ongoing rains.
